Encryption on the Code during Transit

Does PHIRE encrypt the code in transit between the environments?

Thanks for the question. There are two areas to consider: PeopleTools project objects, and external file objects.

In the case of the PeopleTools project objects, there is no logic in Phire that attempts to implement encryption for the migrated code. Phire moves code by making a connection to the target database through JDBC or less commonly through Oracle DB Links. By default, JDBC does not not encrypt the data sent across the network, although I believe that it is possible and may be as easy as adding some settings to configured connection string. Some research would need to be done on that.

In the case of external files like SQR and COBOL, you can choose to setup SFTP which will send encrypted data across the network.

If you have any more details questions about your particular requirements, then we suggest you contact Phire support at: support@phiresoft.com.
