Phire contains two major modules: Issues and Change Requests.

Issues can serve as a help desk or incident tracking facility, accessible to users beyond the core IT support staff if desired. Within this module, is a setup for Issue Type that defines the types of issues that can be recorded and some rules about them. Many customers have existing corporate-wide system that meet this requirement and thus do not implement the Phire Issue features.

Change Requests (CRs) manage the detail workflow processing including assignment and notification of individual tasks, approvals, migrations and object versioning. These are the core features that are always implemented by customers. Thus the CR Type defines the types of CRs and associated rules. In particular, the CR Type dictates the workflow that the CR follows.
